Southwestern Styled Wedding Inspiration | Austin Wedding Photographer | The Waters Point

Did you know we’re coming up on our 2 year anniversary of Austin, TX living? Even so, I still feel like we just moved here and I have so much more to do and explore.  It’s been a wonderful year so far with many new experiences and opportunities for EffJay Photography.

One of one of those new opportunities was partaking in my first styled wedding shoot (Put together by an amazing photographer, Misty McLendon) at the very start of 2017.  It was the perfect way to kick off the new year with a jolt of creativity and inspiration.  

The shoot was held at The Waters Point in Wimberly, TX and let me just tell you: I’m in LOVE with this venue!  If you’re getting married and still looking for the perfect place and you love that rustic but naturally elegant vibe, you have to check this place out!  For this shoot, we got to explore one of the cabins that could be used for getting ready and some of their outdoor scenery for portraits.  But beyond that, it’s right on the river (another perfect spot for portraits) and has beautiful areas for ceremony and reception.  And they have a mini horse (which you’ll see in a bit) so honestly, that would sell it for me haha.  

The shoot itself had a southwestern elopement feel and made my heart so happy.  Fun fact: I grew up primarily in Albuquerque, NM and Las Vegas, NV so southwestern styled ANYTHING is going to catch my interest and keep it.  We had gorgeous florals designed by Pluma Blanca Floral Design and stunning make up by Beauty Mark Agency which all flowed into the theme perfectly!  Also, our models were perfect and one of the cutest couples together I’ve ever met, which always makes the job 10 times more fun.   

This shoot truly started off the year on the perfect beat. It was a great opportunity to play with angles and styles to help solidify who I am as a wedding photographer.  It even inspired me to create some of my own styled shoots, which will be coming later this year.  They’re such a wonderful way to portray your style as a photographer and show off some amazing local vendors along the way.
