The Juarez Family | Destination Portrait Photographer | In Home Lifestyle Session

Featured on the blog today is the completely precious Juarez Family and their cozy home in Bertram, TX. When Mrs. Juarez first contacted me about a family session, she right away mentioned that it would include their fur-children, Marley and Milo. Cue me happy dancing in my desk chair! I don’t think it matters how many people contact me about sessions including their dogs, I will ALWAYS get excited… kind of like a dog haha. ANYWHO, she specifically requested that we do the shoot at their home as Milo was rescued and still a little nervous around new people and places. We wanted to make sure he was comfortable so we could capture his true personality. I was actually really excited about this because at the time, I had only really done in-home sessions for my lifestyle newborn clients. I think it’s such an incredible way to capture meaningful portraits with loved ones doing things you do every day and finding the magic in the mundane.

The Juarez’s home was so perfect for their session, not because it was straight out of a Southern Living Magazine and 4000 sq. feet, but because it was THEIR home. I think it’s really easy to get wrapped up in feeling like we need Pinterest worthy homes to tell our story beautifully, but if we get too wrapped up in that, we’re no longer telling our story.

We started in the living room, in their favorite spots on their comfy couch, moved to the kitchen where they talk in the mornings, stepped out front since I’m a sucker for a statement door color, and ended in the backyard so I could see what real family play time looked like. It was perfect in the most real-life way. Even though I was only with them for a short time in an afternoon, I felt like I witnessed key snippets of their story. The snippets of how they beautifully look at each other when for a split second they forgot I was there, how much joy their fur babies have when the whole family comes outside, and the comfort they all feel in the perfect space that is their very own. Thank you again Mr. and Mrs. Juarez for welcoming me into your home and trusting me to photograph y’all!
